2009 Gold Cup Quarterfinals!

Went out with la Sra. Adriana, el Sr. Gustavo and Frank to Cowboys Stadium once again to watch the quarterfinals for the 2009 Gold Cup.

We arrived shortly before 1 p.m. to the parking lot (4) which is where apparently all the action would be taking place (i.e. radio stations, games, food, etc., would be set up for the pre-party).

The first game, Costa Rica vs. Guadaloupe started around 3 o'clock. It was such an awesome game. The final score was Costa Rica 5 vs Guadaloupe 1.

The second game, Mexico vs. Haiti started around 6 o'clock. The excitement in that stadium was just spectacular, not one seat was empty by the time it got started. This game too did not let the crowd down as Mexico beat Haiti 4-0.

I'll be brief with my blog this time, as I have a lot of pictures I want to put up and I'm starting to think that someone with Blogger is going to prohibit me from writing too much on here pretty soon! :)

Here are my pictures to document the awesome day, which by the way had a record attendance of 82,252 people.....AMAZING!!!

The ticket! We had some awesome seats, let me tell you.

A group of Costa Rica fans!!!!!

Frank trying his luck at hitting the soccer ball at least ten times....didn't quite make it!

We took this at a Sprint booth. They superimposed us on the stadium background...pretty cool, isn't it?

Check out the awesome sign I had Frank draw and I decorated. I was highly upset when we got all the way into the entrance only to be told I could not bring it in, and then only to get into the stadium and later see others with similar signs like mine. Aarrrrrghhhh!

Our seats were towards the bottom left. This is the view I had walking into the stadium...it was so cool to be so close!

This was the first match!

The lineup.

First goal from Costa Rica came pretty early in the game!

Second goal!

Saborio scored it!

Scoreboard! It would prove to be a long day for Gualaloupe!

Injured Guadaloupe player!

Frank & I.

La Sra. Adriana & I.

Halftime!

Another goal for Costa Rica! That poor goalie...all he can do is lay there and stare at the ball in the net.

The score!

Guadaloupe finally gets a goal on the scoreboard!

By none other than #22, Alphonse!

Finally, Gualaloupe is on the board!

Another Costa Rica goal!!!

AND the scoreboard!!!!

I thought the goalie for Costa Rica was handsome!

Costa Rica fans enjoying the game!

And there goes the ball in the net again in favor of Costa Rica!!!!

He almost looks like he is shocked himself that he made the goal!

For the record!

The final score!!!!

"Man of the Match!"

Costa Rica's Osorio.

Here are pictures of the second match: Mexico vs Haiti.

Let the game begin!

The people were just anxiously awaiting for the teams to come out....it was madness in that place. Not one seat was empty, it seemed.

This man came out to the game dressed in this. He really was the celebrity out there that day. Frank said he was trying to get to the men's room and apparently was swarmed by people wanting to take pictures with him that he maybe didn't get a chance to go!

El Sr. Gustavo & Frank!

Mexico warming up!

Ahhh, this is Omar Bravo. I think he's a hottie! Too bad he didn't play during the game - this was the closest I got to seeing him in action.

Even the referees warm up to prepare for the game!

The scoreboard!

Start of the second half!

Seems like he's asking the players to calm down!!!!

Mexico's captain, Torrado, got injured!!!

Gosh, another Mexico goal...I kind of feel sorry for the goalkeeper...the ball behind him in the net is not a pretty sight for him!!!!

Scoreboard!

Setting up the last goal with a corner kick!

There's that ugly sight again for Haiti's goalkeeper!!!!
