Rod Stewart - One Rockin' Night!

If you all have been keeping up with me, you have probably noticed that I have been hitting up the concerts this year like a mad woman....kind of my own version of the Today's show "Summer Concert Series," type deal.

Last night was not the exception, just the continuation of the great concerts that I have been lucky to go to this year. The only thing I did a bit different that I had never done before, EVER, was to go to a concert all by myself. Yeah, you are reading right people, I went on a date with none other than ME, MYSELF, & I!!!!!

I will admit I was scared to death...not too much worried about being at a concert by myself....I eat a lot by myself so have gotten used to the "stares" of people I'm sure saying to themselves, "poor girl, can't even get someone to go to lunch with her!" I was more worried about driving out to Grand Prairie on my own and getting lost either on the way to or from the concert!

In preparation of "anything" happening and also because I was picking up my single ticket at "Will Call," I left the house at 5:30 pm (concert started at 7:30). If you live in Dallas, or know about the traffic in Dallas, you know very well that I-30, doesn't matter which direction, if almost always bad with traffic, well, my drive through there yesterday was NOT the exception. Right as I got near downtown, the traffic came to a complete halt. I was stuck in the mess for about 15 minutes before I reached the mess, which was an accident. The worse part was that the scene was all wrapped up, but leave it to the gawking motorist to make it all that much worse.

I finally made it through and before I knew it, I had arrived at my destination, Nokia!!!! I paid for general parking ($15) which was the cost of my ticket...yeah for great deals, and off I went to pick the best spot that would get me out of there without too much trouble. Getting my ticket was a piece of cake, too...I was done in about 3 minutes.

I headed into the "theatre," and there was hardly anyone there, but then again, I was early...it must have been around 6:45 or so. I found my little spot...to the far right on the last seat by the wall and plopped my little self there. I would stay there for the remainder of the night until the concert was over.

7:30 rolled around and the opening group came on stage. I didn't get their name, but they were four guys from Australia. They were really good considering they are just starting out. They had a really good sense of humor too and of course their accent was just to die for...very Aussie-like! :)

The band must have played for about an hour and then it was on to the main show. It took about 15 minutes to clear the stage of all their instruments and equipment. The carpet was rolled up and nothing but bare floor with a symbol was left on the floor.

After a few more brief minutes, the screens that were put up, started displaying a cartoon-like image of Rod Stewart and then the music and then the man!

I'll be brief but hope to convey just what an awesome concert he put on....the best part of all of it too was that instead of having a 15-minute break, loosing the mood and then coming back, Rod Stewart opted to have his back-up singers do a Tina Turner song and then he came back with more songs.

The concert wrapped up around 11 pm. I must say that for going for the first time alone to a concert, this was the best - I had a lot of fun, even the couple sitting beside me pointed it out (they were a tad older). The gentleman commented on how he couldn't believe being I was so young (thank you, thank you!), I knew every song and seemed to have a better time even than the two of them.

If anyone has a chance to go see this man in concert, I would recommend it hands down....you'd be in for a very fun night. Below you'll find some pictures of the awesome evening and some video of 3 of my favorite songs from Mr. Stewart himself.

Enjoy!!!!

Back here AGAIN just after a little over 1 week!!!!

Hanging Out With The Ladies At Gloria's!

Ms. Michelle, Ms. Melissa, Liz & I headed over to Gloria's this afternoon for an early dinner and to just hang out.

We had planned this a couple of weeks back to celebrate certain happenings (that I won't disclose for fear of retribution, just kidding!), and had to reschedule it because of other conflicts at the time.

We finally made it to today and promptly left our respective offices at 5 p.m. and headed towards the restaurant.

Neither of us were that hungry so we opted to split this dish, "Nacho Grandisimo," and queso. The platter consisted of triangle toasted corn tortillas with melted cheese and chicken and beef fajitas. It was so yummy delicious.

"The ladies" decided they'd have some "mojitos," I have no clue what this is made of, but it's an alcoholic drink - I had my coke - LIKE ALWAYS! No one seriously wants to ever be around to see me on alcohol - that's why I'll never go that route! :) I'll keep it simple and leave the "unknown" as the "UNKNOWN!" I'm already crazy-silly without alcohol!

An observation of their drinking habits - Ms. Michelle enjoys her drink, slowly sipping away. Liz goes at a faster pace but with caution and well Ms. Melissa - that woman seemed like she was being chased or chasing the next drink. She zipped those mojitos pretty darn fast.

Nothing to do with the alcohol, but we just died laughing and giving her a hard time because she accidentally spilled her water - which I noticed they bring out with every alcoholic drink (maybe to help with the intoxication?). The poor waiters had to come and clean up the watery mess.

I can't speak for the rest, but I had a pretty darn good time - maybe we'll get to making this a tradition - there is never a reason needed to hang out and have a good dinner with good friends/co-workers.

Mojito #1: Plain mojito? Ms. Michelle and Liz had this one, then Liz opted for what Ms. Melissa had!!!!! Check out the next picture!

Mojito #2: I have to say this one looks prettier - it supposedly taste better too. I'll take their word for it! This is a Raspberry Mojito.

This is what we split - Nacho Grandisimo (meaning big)...it was yummy in our tummies!!!!!

2009 Gold Cup Quarterfinals!

Went out with la Sra. Adriana, el Sr. Gustavo and Frank to Cowboys Stadium once again to watch the quarterfinals for the 2009 Gold Cup.

We arrived shortly before 1 p.m. to the parking lot (4) which is where apparently all the action would be taking place (i.e. radio stations, games, food, etc., would be set up for the pre-party).

The first game, Costa Rica vs. Guadaloupe started around 3 o'clock. It was such an awesome game. The final score was Costa Rica 5 vs Guadaloupe 1.

The second game, Mexico vs. Haiti started around 6 o'clock. The excitement in that stadium was just spectacular, not one seat was empty by the time it got started. This game too did not let the crowd down as Mexico beat Haiti 4-0.

I'll be brief with my blog this time, as I have a lot of pictures I want to put up and I'm starting to think that someone with Blogger is going to prohibit me from writing too much on here pretty soon! :)

Here are my pictures to document the awesome day, which by the way had a record attendance of 82,252 people.....AMAZING!!!

The ticket! We had some awesome seats, let me tell you.

A group of Costa Rica fans!!!!!

Frank trying his luck at hitting the soccer ball at least ten times....didn't quite make it!

We took this at a Sprint booth. They superimposed us on the stadium background...pretty cool, isn't it?

Check out the awesome sign I had Frank draw and I decorated. I was highly upset when we got all the way into the entrance only to be told I could not bring it in, and then only to get into the stadium and later see others with similar signs like mine. Aarrrrrghhhh!

Our seats were towards the bottom left. This is the view I had walking into the stadium...it was so cool to be so close!

This was the first match!

The lineup.

First goal from Costa Rica came pretty early in the game!

Second goal!

Saborio scored it!

Scoreboard! It would prove to be a long day for Gualaloupe!

Injured Guadaloupe player!

Frank & I.

La Sra. Adriana & I.

Halftime!

Another goal for Costa Rica! That poor goalie...all he can do is lay there and stare at the ball in the net.

The score!

Guadaloupe finally gets a goal on the scoreboard!

By none other than #22, Alphonse!

Finally, Gualaloupe is on the board!

Another Costa Rica goal!!!

AND the scoreboard!!!!

I thought the goalie for Costa Rica was handsome!

Costa Rica fans enjoying the game!

And there goes the ball in the net again in favor of Costa Rica!!!!

He almost looks like he is shocked himself that he made the goal!

For the record!

The final score!!!!

"Man of the Match!"

Costa Rica's Osorio.

Here are pictures of the second match: Mexico vs Haiti.

Let the game begin!

The people were just anxiously awaiting for the teams to come out....it was madness in that place. Not one seat was empty, it seemed.

This man came out to the game dressed in this. He really was the celebrity out there that day. Frank said he was trying to get to the men's room and apparently was swarmed by people wanting to take pictures with him that he maybe didn't get a chance to go!

El Sr. Gustavo & Frank!

Mexico warming up!

Ahhh, this is Omar Bravo. I think he's a hottie! Too bad he didn't play during the game - this was the closest I got to seeing him in action.

There's that ugly sight again for Haiti's goalkeeper!!!!
